<P ALIGN="LEFT"><SPAN LANG="en-us">Botetourt County will be conducting knowledge-based written testing, EMS skills, and physical ability testing on September 9, 2006, at 10:00 A. M. at Lord Botetourt High School in Daleville, Virginia. Registration for testing is required. This will be the first phase of any future hiring opportunities and is the only testing planned in the next 12 months. Minimum requirements for testing are current DFP Firefighter I and current Virginia OEMS EMT-B. Minimum requirements for employment are at least 21 years of age, possession of a valid Virginia driver’s license, good driving record, current EVOC, DFP Firefighter I, and be willing to obtain Virginia Firefighter II certification within 1 year. Must have current Virginia OEMS EMT-B and 2 years of verifiable field experience, current CPR, PEPP, and PHTLS certifications preferred. Residence in or within 20 miles of Botetourt County required. Must be able to pass standard medical exams, including drug, sight, and hearing test. Will be required to perform all Fire-EMS related physical tasks such as lifting and moving patients and firefighting duties. Advanced Life Support position minimum requirements: valid Virginia OEMS EMT-I, with a minimum of 1 year of verifiable ALS experience, ACLS. Qualifying applications will remain on file with Emergency Services for a period of two years, at which time applicants will need to reapply/test. Beginning salary $27,624 - $32,000, DOQ and position. Most duties will focus on EMS, with excellent opportunity for advancement.
