New Website for TEMS
Following months of preparation, the Tidewater EMS Council converted to
a new website last week. The site is driven by a content management
system and promises to be cleaner and easier to navigate than before. If
you can't find something you need, just use the search box. The left
hand menus now expand into submenus. The center portion of the home page
includes active news items and current meeting and event listings. The
right side of the home page includes a user log-in box and links to
register for upcoming classes or events. We're working to improve the
presentation and sign up for various EMS courses so please check back
frequently. www.tidewaterems.org
As part of the website update, the Hampton Roads Metropolitan Medical
Response System program has activated a distinct internet address:
www.hrmmrs.org although the previous www.tidewaterems.org/hrmmrs will
continue to work.

Virginia Stroke Systems
May was Stroke Awareness Month, a time dedicated to help raise awareness
about our Nation's THIRD leading cause of death. Every 40 seconds,
someone in the US suffers a stroke, and while these statistics are
startling, we all have a role to play in insuring future victims of
stroke have the best chance for recovery.
Learning the five steps of warning signs for strokes could make all the
difference.
* Walk - Is their balance off?
* Talk - Is their speech slurred or face droopy?
* Reach - Is one side weak or numb?
* See - Is their vision all or partly lost?
* Feel - Is their headache severe?
