Positions Available - Hampton Roads MMRS, Tidewater EMS Council, Inc.
HRMMRS PROGRAM SPECIALISTS, Full or Part Time
Hampton Roads Metropolitan Medical Response System (HRMMRS) Program
Specialists are responsible to and will assist the HRMMRS Training and
Logistics Coordinator in fulfilling the responsibilities of developing
and implementing the HRMMRS Plan and associated projects.
Responsibilities includes (1) developing, facilitating and providing WMD
and "all hazards" training and exercises; (2) providing equipment and
logistics support, planning and reporting; and (3) planning for mass
casualties and medical surge capacity. Specific duties include, but are
not limited to, the following:
HRMMST Curriculum Development - One position; full or part time
Primary duties:
1. Develop and conduct Hampton Roads Metropolitan Medical Strike
Team (HRMMST) Operations courses as needed.
2. Coordinate the delivery of recommended training courses for
HRMMST members and other HRMMRS medical responders.
3. Maintain documentation of completed training for HRMMST
members.
HRMMST Training and Exercises - One position part time
Primary duties:
1. Plan and conduct quarterly training for the HRMMST at the
direction of the Strike Team Committee and assisted by the Quarterly
Training and Exercise Workgroup.
2. Plan for and conduct regional table-top, functional, and/or
full-scale field exercises (or drills) involving the HRMMST or other
HRMMRS stakeholders.
3. Identify exercise training needs and ensure adequate
educational opportunity exists for exercise participants to attend
exercise specific training prior to actual exercises.
4. Develop after-action reports which include "lessons learned"
from regional preparedness exercises and actual responses involving the
HRMMST or other significant components of the HRMMRS.
Secondary duties required of both positions:
1. Attend HRMMRS and other committee meetings to support HRMMRS
projects as requested.
2. Assist with development and utilization of Weber Emergency
Response Training and Simulation Center.
3. Assist with promotion of upcoming training and exercises
involving the HRMMST or HRMMRS.
4. Assist with inventory management, distribution, maintenance,
repair and replacement of the HRMMST equipment cache.
5. Assist with inventory of HRMMRS/HRMMST pharmaceuticals
distributed throughout the region and replacement of expired
pharmaceuticals.
6. Assist HRMMRS Training and Logistics Coordinator with planning
and implementation efforts to ensure that the HRMMST is operational.
7. Other duties as assigned by HRMMRS Training and Logistics
Coordinator
Qualifications:
* Required: Bachelor's degree in emergency preparedness or any
equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the
required knowledge, skills and abilities.
* Possession of the skills and knowledge of an EMT-Paramedic.
* Proficient in oral and written communications.
* Proven experience in the development and delivery of high
quality educational programs.
* Ability to organize, plan and coordinate various programs
efficiently and effectively.
* Ability to establish and maintain excellent working
relationships with field and administrative personnel.
* Personal computer experience including familiarity with the
Microsoft Office Suite of application.
* Adaptable to a flexible schedule of working hours which may
involve night and weekend meetings and travel.
* Must provide own reliable transportation.
As a full time position:
Hours per week: 40
Supervisor: HRMMRS Training and Logistics Coordinator
Work allocation: MMRS 100%
Salary range of $45-$50K annually (depending on experience and
qualifications) with full benefits: health insurance (full cost of PPO
or HMO plan), long term disability, vacation (12-24 days/year depending
on longevity), sick leave (10 days per year), 11 holidays/yr, 1 personal
day/yr, retirement program (SEP-IRA contributions after 3 years
employment and 403-B deferred comp plan), educational assistance program
As a part time position:
Hours per week: Approx 20 (part time, 80 hours per month required)
Supervisor: HRMMRS Training and Logistics Coordinator
Work allocation: MMRS 100%
Salary $25/hr, with the following benefits: retirement program (SEP-IRA
contributions after 3 years employment and 403-B deferred comp plan) and
educational assistance program.
Process:
In addition to the application and interview, each applicant will be
required to develop a training program from supplied materials and
deliver the training to an interview panel using hardware and software
provided.
