Intubation Change For Enhanced Providers

The State Medical Direction Committee (MDC) has removed endotracheal
intubation (ET) from both the Enhanced curriculum and from the Enhanced
written and practical testing effective July 1, 2008.In lieu of ET, MDC
encourages that emphasis be placed on the utilization of supraglottic
airways (PtL, CombiTube, King LT, LMA, etc.).

Effective July 1, 2008, the ET practical station will no longer be
evaluated at the Enhanced level (unless the candidate failed the ET
practical station prior to July 1, 2008). In that event of a retest, the
candidate will be required to take the ET practical station and pass it
successfully. Any candidate testing with a secondary eligibility letter
will NOT be required to test the ET practical station after July 1,
2008.
