EIIP Virtual Forum www.emforum.org - Wednesday September 26, 2007 - 12:00 Noon Eastern Time

The EIIP is pleased to host a 'live chat' presentation and interactive Q&A session on September 26, 2007, beginning at 12:00 Noon Eastern time (please convert to your local time). Our topic will be the recently updated USFA report Retention and Recruitment for the Volunteer Emergency Services. Originally published in 1988, this edition has been enhanced with new research and current issues as the emergency services enter the 21st century. The text contains a thorough and insightful look at the issues and provides examples of solutions that have worked in volunteer organizations across the nation. Although focused on the fire services, the findings and recommendations have relevance for other types of volunteer organizations involved with disaster and emergency response.

Our guest will be Dr. William F. Jenaway, Project Manager for the report update. Dr. Jenaway is employed as the Executive Vice President of VFIS, and serves as CEO of their Education, Training, and Consulting subsidiary. Among Bill's many affiliations are Chairman of the Risk Management Standard for the NFPA, Chairman of the NFPA Standard on Providing Emergency Services to the Public, President of the Congressional Fire Services Institute, Commissioner of the Commission on Fire Service Accreditation, as well as a Past President of the Pennsylvania Fire & Emergency Services Institute. The author of more than 200 articles on fire, safety and management-related topics, and has written six texts on fire and safety discipline.
