[PEMS List] RSAF Reminder

            It's time to begin planning for the next round of Rescue
Squad Assistance Fund grants.  Twice yearly agencies are invited to
submit their requests for funding for equipment, training,
communications, or special projects.  The next deadline for RSAF grants
is September 17, 2007.  Applications can be downloaded from the OEMS web
site Grants Page <http://www.vdh.state.va.us/OEMS/Grants/index.htm> .
Unless there is a hardship, matching funds are required to complete most
projects.  

            Take a few minutes around your station or at your next squad
meeting to come up with some creative ideas for grant requests.  What do
you need to provide better, more efficient, safer service to your
district?  The RSAF has traditionally supported joint efforts, like
regional recruiting or countywide communications projects, programs that
benefit the greater number of providers and citizens.  If you have a
suggestion for a regional project, we would be glad to entertain it.
Some things will not be funded such as salaries, uniforms, expendable
medical supplies, etc.  Low cost items (less than $500) like handlights
or a single backboard are not likely to be funded.   

            The one certain thing about this or any other funding, is
that you will not receive a cent if you do not take the time to apply.
The PEMS staff is ready to assist your agency with RSAF grants by
answering questions or reviewing your forms prior to submission.  Get
started on your applications now.  Attached is a flyer that can be
posted at your station or distributed as you see fit.  It outlines some
important changes in the RSAF program and the application process
beginning this cycle.  As always, the PEMS staff stands ready to assist
you any way we can.
