[PEMS List] PEMS Protocol Rollout 2007

The Peninsulas EMS Council plans to rollout the 2007 revisions of the
"Patient Care Protocols and Policies and Procedures."  This revision
will incorporate the all changes approved by the Medical Advisory
Committee (MAC) since October 2006.  Distribution is expected to occur
by October 1, 2007, and the protocols will have an implementation date
of November 1, 2007.  

 

An education package will be distributed to each PEMS Agency, Hospital
and Physician group. The package includes an Educational/ Instructional
CD on the protocol changes along with a copy of the update protocol
pages. Each page provided will replace an existing page in your PEMS
"Patient Care Protocols and Policies and Producers" book or will a new
protocol page.  Each EMS provider and protocol book in the PEMS region
should be updated to the new protocols by November 1, 2007.  We
anticipate less than an hour will be needed to view the CD and replace
the pages that have changed.

 

We have estimated that we need to print approximately 1700 copies of the
protocol pages.  In an effort to limit costs, we will be using the
numbers provided from the 2006 rollout for the distribution of
Educational/ Instructional CD's and protocol page updates. Attached is
the distribution list that we used for last year. If you wish to make

In theory, these CD's will only need to be used once, to guide the
provider through the process of upgrading their protocol manual and
educating the provider on specific protocols changes.  It is possible
for example, for all of the providers at a station to view the CD as a
group, therefore reducing our cost.  It may also be effective for
smaller agencies to have a couple of copies at the station for providers
to update their books individually or in small groups. The CD will also
be available on line through the PEMS website.  

    

If you have not been updated to 2006 protocols revisions, contact the
PEMS office as soon as possible.
