Subject: Type II Diesel Ambulance wanted

To: Regional EMS Councils

I am looking for a Type II Diesel ambulance to be sent to Long Island, Bahamas. The island there is in need of a second ambulance. Last year I worked with Maritime Ministries (see www.maritimeministriesinc.org<http://www.maritimeministriesinc.org/>) and Mechanicsville Christian Center to have an ambulance sent to the island that was placed at the northern clinic. Jimmy Fox with Maritime Ministries- Bahamas has contacted me asking about the possibility of getting a second ambulance for the southern clinic.

The island is about 80 miles long with one narrow and dangerous road running the length of the island. The picture below is of Nurse Jim Adderly and the ambulance placed at the northern clinic in the village of Simms. The things that we take for granted mean the most to these remote areas. As an example, Richmond Ambulance had donated a scoop stretcher for this vehicle and that was one of the things that excited Jim the most when I was reviewing equipment with them. Another nurse was thrilled to get a Critical Care Field Guide!

I was on Long Island last year training some clinic staff and discovered that they do not have any external pacing capabilities. If anyone has an older monitor / defibrillator with pacing capabilities they could use that as well. There are 2 Zoll AED's on the island and I recently acquired a Zoll AED trainer for them. Therefore, a Zoll 1400 or 1600 with pacing would be the best machine for compatibility to their current devices.

If you could assist me by sending this request to agencies in your region it would be appreciated.

God Bless-
