ALS TRAINING ANNOUNCEMENT

Course: EMT-Enhanced for the Streets

Location:  Wachapreague Volunteer Fire Company (Station 11)

Class Meets:  tentatively every Tuesday night from 1830 to 2130; with some weekend practical sessions, including BTLS-Advanced Certification

Start Date:   on or about; Tuesday, August 9th, 2005

State Test:  TBA

Course Fees:    A $100 fee is required for this course.  This fee is refundable upon successful certification as a VA Enhanced Provider.

Pre-requisites:  
--EMT-Basic with 1 year of street experience minimum, cleared for AIC (strongly recommended)
--Agency affiliation with approval of Captain/Chief (required)
--High School graduate or equivalent, minimum 18 years of age (required)
--Valid CPR card (required)
--Clean criminal record (required)
--Shots and immunization as required for clinicals
--Reading comprehension to the 9th grade level minimum
--Able to commit to the class as a priority event for 4-5 months
--Application form as required by the EMS Council
 
CEU:  This course has been approved by the Office of EMS for the awarding of continuing education credit for all levels of EMS providers.  A separate CEU schedule will be distributed at a later date

Note: This class is a stand-alone state certification preparatory function, it is not transferable to any other program at TCC or other institution.
